Flourish Tutoring is delighted that Jen Shepherd is now a licensed Davis Facilitator.
The Davis Method provides a distinctive, strength-based approach in the support of neurodivergent individuals. It aims to capitalise on the innate strength exhibited by many of these individuals for visual and kinaesthetic thinking rather than verbal thinking. When faced with an education system that is largely designed for verbal thinkers, this strength can start to manifest as a learning difficulty. The Davis programmes aim to build a bridge between this visual thinking strength and the verbal thinking system in which the individual is learning or working so that they can celebrate their strengths and flourish.
Jen is able to provide the following programmes to adults and children aged 8 and above:
Davis® Mastery for Dyslexia – a programme to support those aged 8+ with dyslexia, dysgraphia or other literacy concerns.
Davis® Mastery for Maths – a programme to support those with dyscalculia or other numeracy concerns.
Davis® Mastery for Attention – a programme to support those with ADHD or attention, behaviour and organisation concerns.
No diagnosis is required to access these programmes, which are all offered intensively over a week. All programmes are enjoyable and hands-on. They aim to address the root causes of the key issue, whether it be reading, writing, number sense, attention, behaviour, or organisation. The programmes allow the client to embrace the innate strengths that their neurodivergence gives them so that they can approach learning in a new way and flourish.
E, aged 11, completed the Davis® Mastery for Dyslexia programme. Here is what his mum, Lindsey, said:
I can’t thank you enough. You’ve made the sessions fun and given E new skills and tools to help him navigate the world with his dyslexia. In the short time he has spent with you I’ve seen significant improvement in his reading fluency and speed.
